Bankers Life and Casualty Company Increases Alzheimer’s Association
Support to $386,000; Street Donations Grow By 20%
Chicago (July 14, 2011) - Through its annual street corner
fundraiser and a separate corporate donation, Bankers Life and Casualty Company
has increased its support to the Alzheimer's Association® in 2011 to
$386,000.
Bankers' annual Forget Me Not Days® event brought in donations of more
than $286,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, a 20% increase from 2010. In addition,
Bankers – the national life and health insurer focusing on the retirement market
– recognized the Association with a $100,000 donation to aid in the support of the
Association's mission.
"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Americans during our street collections
for Forget Me Not Days," said Scott Perry, president of Bankers. "This disease directly
impacts our customers, and touches everyone at Bankers. Through our long-standing
partnership with the Alzheimer's Association and their mission, our employees and
agents across the country are committed to joining forces to fight this disease
and support our customers and communities."
In its ninth record-breaking year, Forget Me Not Days saw more than 1,000 Bankers
volunteers collect donations at locations in more than 150 U.S. cities on May 13
and 14. Since the fundraiser's start in 2003, Bankers has supported the Association
with more than $2.4 million for care, education and research programs.
